Bacolod SP adopts
Councilors Creed

A resolution requesting presiding officer and Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson to adopt the Philippine Councilors Creed, either by reading or recitation during the opening of every session in the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod City, was approved by the SP Wednesday.

Authored by Councilor Catalino Alisbo, the resolution said the PCL obtained its official status as a local government association when it was accredited by the Department of Interior and Local Government on September 3, 1991 and subsequently registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission on September 17, 1990.

The resolution said that on January 16, 1992, the DILG issued Memorandum Circular 92-03, mandating the existence of the Philippines Councilors League.

The SP also approved a resolution declaring the observance of October 10 as the World Mental Health Day and the month of October as Mental Health Month.

The resolution was authored by Councilor Em Ang.

A resolution sponsored by Councilor Carl Lopez thanking Senators Pia Cayetano, Aquilino Pimentel and Loren Legarda for their financial assistance to Bacolod, was also approved by the SP, a press release from his office said.

Cayetano was thanked for the construction of the ecological sanitation or Ecosan toilets in the city’s 6l barangays, worth P1 million; Pimentel for his P600,000 medical assistance, and Legarda for a P500,000 financial support to construct a classroom, the press release said.

The 70 units of Ecosan toilets will use sawdust and lime, without need for water, on human wastes, with the rest to be constructed at the Bacolod City Government Center, Lopez said.

Also approved on second reading during the session was the proposed ordinance of Lopez on the delineation of Bacolod’s coastal water boundaries, the press release added.*CGS
