MassKara rerouting set

A temporary rerouting scheme will be implemented in Bacolod City effective October 1 for the MassKara Festival and several streets at the downtown area leading to the Bacolod public plaza will be closed from 5 p.m. onwards on October 1 to 22.

City Traffic Management Unit head, Chief Insp. Luisito Acebuche, said yesterday that vehicles coming from Homesite and Fortune town will be rerouted to the Bacolod reclamation area, turn left to San Sebastian Street, then turn right to San Juan Street, then proceed to Yulo Street, right turn to Lizares Street, right to Araneta Street and use either Roxas Street or Magsaysay Avenue, Acebuche said.

Vehicles coming from Mandalagan area, will need to turn right to Burgos Street, left turn to Reclamation area, left turn to San Sebastian Street, right turn to San Juan Street, right turn to Rosario Street, then to Libertad Extension, before turning right to Locsin Street, then turn left to Rizal Street and right to Gatuslao Street.

Acebuche added that from San Juan Street, vehicles going to and from the Banago area must turn right to Burgos Street, turn left to Reclamation are, then left to San Sebastian Street, right to San Juan Street, turn right to Rosario Street, left to Yulo Street, left to Lizares Street going to Rosario Street, right to Locsin Street, left to Rizal Street and turn right to Gatuslao Street.

Meanwhile, vehicles bound for Barangay Bata will use Burgos Street, turn left to Reclamation area, left to San Sebastian Street, turn right to Araneta Street, turn left to Lizares going to Hernaez Street, turn right to Locsin Street, turn left to Rizal Street before turning right to Gatuslao Street.

Vehicles and jeepneys from Shopping area must turn left to reclamation area, turn left to San Sebastian Street, turn right to Araneta Street, turn left to Lizares Street going to Hernaez Street and will then turn left to Locsin Street and will then turn right to Burgos.

Southbound vehicles will turn right to San Sebastian Street, turn right to Lacson Street then to Lacson Extension and going out to Alijis Road and turn left to Araneta Street while Taculing and Mansilingan-bound vehicles will use Libertad Extension, turn right to Gatuslao Street and right turn to San Sebastian Street.

During the MassKara dance Parade on October 19 and 20, south bound vehicles will use Magsaysay Avenue, northbound vehicles will use the reclamation area while east bound vehicles will be rerouted to Hernaez, Rosario and San Sebastian Streets.

Acebuche also announced that on October 19, 20 and 21, the portion of Lacson Street from 5th to 22nd Streets will be closed for the electric MassKara.

TMU and the Bacolod Traffic Authority will deploy 90 enforcers and eight traffic policemen in the city streets during the 22-day MassKara Festival.*APN
