Water boundaries pushed

A call for the early passage and approval of the proposed ordinance involving the delineation of the boundaries of Bacolod City waters before the end of this year, for the protection of Bacolod’s fisherfolk and its sea resources was made by Bacolod Councilor Carlos Jose Lopez, a press release from his office said yesterday.

The first committee hearing on the proposed ordinance involving the delineation (or description) of the boundaries of Bacolod City’s waters was held yesterday at the MassKara Hall of the Bacolod City Government Center, the press release said.

The committee hearing focused on fishing licensing fees and permits, description of boundaries of territorial waters, the privilege of bonafide Bacolod resident fishermen, higher fees for transient fishers, Philippines Ports Authority’s seaport boundaries and the absence of an Local Government Unit law that prohibits transient fisherfolks from fishing in territorial waters, the press release added.*
