Jam steps in
Bacolod set Oct. 22

The Jam Step, an aerobic exercise, will be held at the Capitol Lagoon in Bacolod City on October 22, Monday, Bacolod Rep. Anthony Golez Jr. said during a press conference in Bacolod City Saturday.

Golez said many gathered for the Jam Step at the Quezon Circle last week which was attended by the Health Secretary and supported by the Philippine Medical Association and a lot of people.

They are thinking of holding it in four provinces only and have changed the music to Waka-Waka from the music of Super base, he said.

Golez said expected to join the Jam Sep in Bacolod are the students and local government and national agency employees and he hopes the President will accept the invitation of Health Secretary Enrique Ona so he can do “jam-stepping” with them.

This time there will be no show of force unlike the Jam Step at the Bacolod airport last February, he said.

Theevent was organized by theAng Batang Pinoy Movementled by Jewel May Lobaton-Pimentel and Golez.

Golez said the Department of Health, Department of Education, Department of Interior and Local Government and the Department of Tourism together with Lobaton-Pimentel are going around the country teaching Jam Step.*CGS

Ayala withdrawal
surprises Benitez

Rep. Alfredo Abelardo Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3rd District) Saturday said he was surprised that AyalaLand Inc. withdrew its plan to develop the 7.7 hectare provincial government property in Bacolod City that it was to buy and lease.

“They joined the bidding process to participate in the project but I don't know their reasons for the pull-out,” he said, denying that he had interfered in the matter.

They should not be looking only at the COA ruling because there's still the case in court. The case will have to be resolved, he said.

Benitez said he would not be surprised if the COA is waiting for the decision of the court, because what happens to its ruling if the court rules differently? he said.*CPG
