ERC to hold hearing on
Ceneco bid Friday

The Central Negros Electric Cooperative Inc. yesterday announced that the Energy Regulatory Commission has set the continuation of expository presentation, pre-trial conference and evidenciary hearing in Pasig City on Friday.

CENECO general manager Sulpicio Lagarde Jr. said this is in line with their request for approval of over/under recoveries based on the formula on the various automatic cost adjustments and true-up mechanisms and corresponding confirmation process.

He said that based on the ERC Order they received recently that was signed by Commissioner Maria Theresa Castaneda, the hearing is set at 9 a.m. at the ERC hearing room, 15th Floor, Pacific Center Building, San Miguel Avenue, in Pasig City.

Lagarde said that on June 26, 2012 the CENECO Board of Directors passed Board Resolution No. 9910 urging the ERC to hold the succeeding hearings in Bacolod City in response to the popular request from several CENECO stakeholders to ensure wider participation and involvement.

However, ERC did not explain why it was choosing Pasig City as venue, he said.

Councilor Archie Baribar, chairman of the Sangguniang Committee on Communication and Energy, said he is exploring possibilities to involve the Congressional Office in this request because the Sangguniang Panlungsod has a standing resolution for the CENECO hearing to be held in Bacolod.

“I will see if I can get the favorable consideration of our congressman to intervene,” he said, adding that he will attend the hearing because he will be in Manila on Friday.

Copies of the Order were also sent to Ditas Lerios-Amboy and Rhoda Cuevas, counsels for CENECO; Office of the Solicitor General, Commission on Audit, Senate Committee on Energy, House Committee on Energy, Investigation and Enforcement Division, Freedom from Debt Coalition, Inc. – Negros Chapter,

Evangelista and Maguigad Law Office, counsel for Bayan Muna Reps. Teddy Casino and Neri Javier Colmenares; Councilor. Baribar, counsel for Sangguniang Panglungsod of Bacolod, Vicente Petierre III, counsel for Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia, Romeo Lavilla, Sr.,

Elinore Cabanilla, intervenor representing the Social Action Center of Bacolod Diocese; Offices of the City Mayor of Bacolod, Silay, Talisay and Bago, and Offices of the Municipal Mayor of Murcia and Don Salvador Benedicto.*CGS
