7 sachets of ‘shabu’ seized

Two suspected drug pushers were arrested in buy-bust operations in barangays 2 and Mansilingan, Bacolod, by members of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, and the Bacolod City Police Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group, yesterday.

PDEA and police operatives seized seven sachets of suspected shabu and records identified those arrested as Genepher Bautista, 39, of Purok Sigay, Brgy. 2; and Donald Gepaya, “alias Don-Don”, 35, of Purok Kabugwason, Brgy. Mansilingan.

Intelligence Officer 1 Cleveland Villamor said they arrested Bautista at about 10:50 a.m. yesterday, after he handed a small sachet of suspected shabu to a police poseur-buyer in exchange for P500.

Two heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu, a tooter and two disposable lighters were also seized from Bautista during his arrest, the police said.

CAIDSTOG head, Supt. Santiago Rapiz, meanwhile, said they arrested Gepaya at about 6 p.m., after he handed a small sachet of suspected shabu to a police poseur buyer in exchange for P200.

Three more elongated sachets of the banned substance, P500 and several drug paraphernalia were also recovered from the suspect.

PDEA records show that this is the first time that Bautista, who tried to resist arrest, was nabbed. He had been under surveillance for some time on information that he is into illegal drugs trade, Villamor said.

Gepaya was arrested for a similar offense two years ago.

Bautista and Gepaya are now detained at Police Station 2 and at the BCPO headquarters, respectively, and charges for illegal sale and possession of drugs are being readied for filing against them.*APN/RQB

Boy, 5, ‘molested’

The parents of a 5-year-old boy reported to the police that their son was molested by their male teenaged neighbor in Brgy. Suba, Calatrava, Negros Occidental, the police yesterday said.

The suspect, aged 15, is not a homosexual, contrary to reports, Senior Insp. Ramil Sarona, Calatrava police chief, said.

Investigations by the Calatrava police show that the alleged molestation took place on Sept. 15 at a vacant house in the place where the victim and the suspect, whose identities are being withheld, had been playing. The incident was reported on Sept. 20.

Sarona said they required the parents to have their son examined, and to submit the results and other documents needed for the filing of charges against the suspect.

He added that the incident has been referred to the Women’s and Children Protection Desk and the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office.*GPB

Hit-and-run case
settled: Acebuche

Bacolod City Police Traffic Management Unit head, Chief Insp. Luisito Acebuche, yesterday said a settlement has been reached between the car driver and the family of the street cleaner, who died in an accident at Lacson Street, Bacolod City, about three weeks ago.

Acebuche, however, said driver Michael Kian Javellana of Greensville 2 Subdivision, Bacolod, is still not off the hook, because the police can still file charges for reckless imprudence resulting to homicide against him.

He said that even if the family of Vegilla Salusada, 70, of Purok Katilingban in Brgy. 39, Bacolod, had already issued affidavits of desistance to the TMU, Javellana should still show up and clarify the circumstances of the accident.

Acebuche added that they are giving Javellana until Friday to go to the TMU, or they will pursue criminal complaints against him.

Salusada was about to cross the road after cleaning the other portion of Lacson Street when the Honda Jazz reportedly driven by Javellana sideswiped her, and caused her immediate death.*APN
