Stingers, Mustangs
in battle royale

All roads in local basketball lead to the West Negros University Gym 5 p.m. tomorrow, as defending champion Mustangs will host University of St. La Salle Stingers in the do-or-die semifinal match of the NOPSSCEA 32nd Season men’s basketball tournament.

Stingers head coach Eugene Opu-an said his players are ready to give everything they have in tomorrow’s game, just like they did last Sunday when they foiled the Mustangs bid to secure the first finals berth with a 76-73 stunner.

Winless in the eliminations, Opu-an said they never lost hope and the September 23 win gave the Stingers back their confidence.

USLS booters win vs. WNU

The USLS college football team strengthened its bid for a back-to-back NOPSSCEA championship with a dominating 7-0 win against West Negros University, in their recent match-up at the Ayala North Point pitch.

Stamping their class over their counterparts from WNU, the USLS booters controlled the match with a 5-0 halftime lead.

WNU tried to counter but failed to stop Joel Bedia from scoring three goals in the match, while Ralph Layumas, Angelo Bahoyan, Norman Soletario and Paolo Sanchez had one goal each for the USLS team.

Trimaxi edges Ceres in
NFL tournament

Competition in the 3rd Conference of the North Football League heats up with Trimaxi Agro edging powerhouse Ceres Transport, 1-0, in their latest match-up at the Ayala North Point field.

With both teams playing good defense in the first half, Archie Pamilar got away from his defender to score for Trimaxi in the 44th minute.

Ceres effort to equalize in the second half was thwarted by Trimaxi as their defense held on until the final whistle.
