Ms. Tay Tung Global
coronation tonight

The coronation of the winner in the search for Ms. Tay Tung Global will be held 6 o’clock tonight during the alumni homecoming at the Po Hang Gymnasium in Bacolod City, a press release from organizers said.

The search is a personality, beauty, intellect and leadership competition for Bacolod Tay Tung High School alumni and students, who will serve as ambassadress of the BTTHS Alumni Association Inc. in promoting its activities, advocacies, values and history, the press release said.

Candidates Ronnilyn Baloco, Nila Mae Apares, Lovely Española, Danica Yao, Arisa Marie Go, Kim Padasay, Marian Abarico, Ali Baribar, Irene Chua, Ershey Cadagat and Kaye Yap showed the audience what they have got in the talent competition Tuesday, also at the Po Hang gym.

The search is the third for the institution since its inception in 1935. The first was held in 1969 as a fundraising activity, and was won by Belinda Uy, now Mrs. Tanpinco; and the second in 1984, with Suzette Sy, now Mrs. Barcelona, as the winner, the press release also said.

Bacolod Tay Tung High School, the oldest Chinese school in Bacolod, is Alma Mater to a large segment of Chinese families and business people. Batch 1987, are this year’s silver jubilarians, the press release added.*

10 Sum-ag teachers
pass TESDA exams

Ten teachers of the Sum-ag National High School Technology and Livelihood Education in Bacolod City passed the National Certificate II Examination conducted by the Technical Education Skills and Development Authority recently, a press release from the school said.

They passers are Faith Charity Tomaro and April Joy Locsin for computer hardware servicing, Louis Bolonia for electrical installation maintenance, Nancy Batiles, Nerissa Catong and Leonor Panique for dressmaking, and Lomalinda Jomocan, Ada Ferraris, Maria Crestita Montoyo and Analyn Calixto for commercial cooking, the press release said.

Sum-ag NHS principal Warlito Rosareal lauded the teachers, and said their accomplishments support the implementation of the technical-vocational curriculum in the school, the press release added.*
