to death in Kabankalan

A man died on the spot after his two neighbors ganged-up on him, hit him with a bamboo pole and hacked him in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, at about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Kabankalan City police chief, Supt. Calixto Mabugat, identified the fatality as Ramil Sibugan Baylon, 30, of Brgy. Tampalon, Kabankalan City.

Baylon’s father, Federico, 77, told the police that Raymar Ruiz, 18, hit his son in the head with a bamboo pole, and Pacifico Ruiz Jr. hacked him with a bolo, for still unknown reasons. Police reports did not say if the two suspects are related.

Raymar was nabbed at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday at the national highway of Brgy. Talubangi, Kabankalan, while Pacifico was apprehended in a hot pursuit operation in Brgy. Tampalon, also in the city, that same night.

They are now detained at the Kabankalan City Police Office, and charges are being readied against them.

Meanwhile, a laborer wanted for frustrated murder was apprehended by the police at about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday at his house in Sitio Malasbalas, Brgy. Oringao, also in Kabankalan City.

Mabugat said they nabbed Jude Aguilar Gaspar, 29, on the strength of an arrest warrant issued by the late Regional Trial Court Judge Henry Arles, who had set his bail at P200,000.*APN

Man loses P2,870 to ‘fixer’

A man reported to the Bacolod City Police Office at about 10:30 a.m. Thursday, that a suspected fixer duped him and took his P2,870 in cash.

The complainant, 32, whose name the police withheld, of Zone 4, Brgy. Handumanan, Bacolod City, said the fixer, whom he identified only as a certain “Dolly”, 20, also of Brgy. Handumanan, transacted with him on August 24, 2012.

He said that he gave P2,870 to “Dolly” for the renewal of his motorcycle permit, but the license has still not been processed and he could no longer find the suspect.

Land Transportation Office-Negros Occidental chief Renato Novero reiterated his warning to the public not to deal with fixers, who have been banned from the compound of the agency.

He said the public should transact directly with the LTO personnel.*RQB
