Bacolod, San Carlos cops cited
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

Bacolod and San Carlos cities in Negros Occidental, and the municipal government of Pototan in Iloilo, were identified by the Philippine National Police Regional Office as among the “most supportive local government units” in the Western Visayas.

At the awarding ceremony held in Camp Martin Delgado, Iloilo City yesterday, the PNP attributed its gains in the law enforcement campaign in Western Visayas to its partnership with local government units, and various stakeholders, including non-government organizations, volunteer groups and ordinary citizens.

PNP chief Nicanor Bartolome said that with their support, Western Visayas residents can move around freely and without any fear.

Bartolome also cited the police awardees, who have shown their dedication in their tasks, and exhorted them to exert their utmost effort in extending services to the people, to inspire others to strive and do their share.

Of the 25 awards, three went to the Bacolod City Police Office, that was adjudged as Best City Police Office, with its commander, Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz chosen as Best Senior Field Police Ccmmissioned Officer, while its Women and Children Protection Desk headed by Inspector Juvy Cabcaban bested other police units as best WCPD in a highly urbanized city.

The WCPDs of Cadiz City and La Castellana Police Stations also bagged awards as best WCPD in component and municipal, categories.

The 2nd Maneuver Company of the 6th Regional Public Safety Battalion was also adjudged Best Maneuver Company.

Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz, regional police director of Western Visayas, assisted Bartolome in the distribution of plaques of merit, and “Best of the Best” badges to the 25 awardees.

De la Paz and the 6th RPSB were also among the finalists in the search for Best Senior Field PCO and RPSB, respectively, in the national level, police records also showed.

Bartolome vowed to continue to implement reforms in the PNP organization through PNP Patrol Plan 2030 , also known as the Peace and Order Agenda for Transformation and Upholding of the Rule-Of-Law.

“So I expect the support of every member of the PRO6,” he added.

Bartolome also led the inauguration of the P10 million health facility of the Police Regional Office 6, which was accredited by the Department of Health as an ambulatory surgical clinic.

Under such category, Cruz said, only surgical procedures not requiring an overnight hospital stay, may be performed in the facility.* GPB
