The Negros Occidental towns and cities chairmen of the Kabalikat ng Malayang Pilipino, the party of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, were announced yesterday by KAMPI provincial chairman, Isabela Vice Mayor Melvin Ibaņez.

Western Visayas KAMPI chairman, Rep. Ignacio "Iggy" Arroyo Jr. (Neg. Occ., 5th district) said the new KAMPI members took their oaths before party chairman Luis Villafuerte during their national convention attended by almost 3,000 delegates at the Manila Hotel yesterday.

Named Bacolod KAMPI chairman was Councilor Al Victor Espino, who said he is running under the team of Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia of the Nationalist People's Coalition since there is an alliance between the NPC, KAMPI and the United Negros Alliance in Negros Occidental. moremoremore

The Bacolod Sangguniang Panglungsod yesterday ratified the loan agreement entered into by and between the Philippine National Bank and the Bacolod City Government after authorizing Mayor Evelio Leonardia to sign it during a special session yesterday. Those who approved the ratification of the contract and gave the Mayor authority to sign it were Councilors Al Victor Espino, Dindo Ramos, Jude Thaddeus Sayson, Greg Gasataya, Homer Bais, Napoleon Cordova, Arturo Parreņo and Marx Louie de la Rosa.

Those who voted against it were Councilors Catalino Alisbo and Elmer Sy, while those who abstained were Councilors Ana Marie Palermo and Reynold Iledan, who left the session hall before the contract was ratified.moremoremore

Says raps filed designed
to 'terrorize' LBP officials

Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia yesterday said the recent case filed against the city and Land Bank of the Philippines officials and the contractor for the construction of the Bacolod City Government Center is meant to "terrorize and paralyze" the bank officials and prevent them from releasing the loan.

A retired policeman had filed charges for grave abuse of authority and grave misconduct and violation of Section 3(e) and/or Section 3 (h) of R.A. 3019 were filed against the Mayor, Vice Mayor, nine Councilors, Hilmarc's Construction Corp., Land Bank of the Philippines officials, Bids and Awards chairman Goldwyn Nifras and Roger Balo as Technical Working Group team leader. moremoremore
