The police is now preparing charges for violation of the Comelec gun ban against the 12 security guards of the MGE Cornerstone hired by landowner Magdaleno Peņa, for bringing their firearms outside their duty areas.

Senior Supt. Rosendo Franco, provincial police director of Negros Occidental, yesterday said the 12 security guards whose duty detail orders cover only areas of Brgy. Ubay in Pulupandan, have committed a violation by being present and bringing firearms in Brgy. Zone 2 of the town.

A couple was brutally killed yesterday by still unidentified suspects who slashed their throats with bladed weapons in Brgy. Atipulohan, Bago City.

The victims identified as Antonio Jalandoni, 56, and his wife, Daisy, 53, were found dead in separate areas, one in the backyard and the other inside their house early yesterday morning.

Supt. Alex Belonio, Bago police chief, yesterday said the slain couple was employed as caretakers of the rice farm owned by Fe Pedreso in Brgy. Atipulohan, Bago City. moremoremore

officials named in raps

A criminal complaint for violation of the Election Code has been filed against Bacolod Rep. Monico Puentevella and two officials of RGMA Network Inc. by a radio broadcaster before the Commission on Elections.

The complaint for coercion of subordinates was filed Monday by Donard Duane Nojas, program director of Super Radyo Bacolod, who said that he was barred by RGMA president Miguel Enriquez from handling any program of the station without any valid ground except to placate the solon who submitted a letter-complaint dated Jan. 9, 2007.

Nojas said he was informed that Puentevella, who is senior vice chairman of the House of Representatives Communications which has jurisdiction over franchises of radio and TV networks, was complaining to the RGMA management about his critical comments about his (Puentevella's) performance and function as congressman. moremoremore
