A partial line-up of candidates for the fifth and sixth districts of Negros Occidental was bared yesterday by Rep. Ignacio Arroyo Jr. and former Rep. Genaro Alvarez.

Being considered for the two board member seats of the fifth district, Arroyo said, are incumbents Francis Gerard Tuvilla and Dino Yulo, Isabela Vice Mayor Melvin Ybañez and Hinigaran Mayor Caroll Guanco.

Set to run for mayor of Hinigaran is former Mayor Hermilo Aguilar, Incumbent Mayor Renato Malabor for Isabela, and Vice Mayor Alberto Nicole for La Castellana, Arroyo said.moremoremore

The remains of a former Lin-ay sang Negros candidate, who worked at a hotel in Singapore and was killed in a vehicular accident on Jan. 24, arrived in Negros Occidental Sunday, Sipalay Mayor Oscar Montilla said yesterday.

Charlene Gonzales, 24, a Hotel and Restaurant Management graduate of La Consolacion College in Bacolod City, was jogging when she was ran over by a bus, the mayor said.

Gonzales, who was from Barangay San Jose, Sipalay City, reportedly began working in Singapore in November. She reportedly was with another Filipina when the accident occurred. Her companion was injured but survived. Her family was informed that the driver of the vehicle had been arrested.moremoremore

Angry son shoots pa dead

Fed up by his maltreatment, a man shot dead his own father whom he described as "irresponsible" in Brgy. Cabatangan, Talisay City, on Sunday night.

Dante Sapinet, 33, who gave himself up to the Police Station 7 in Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City, about 10 hours after the killing, was immediately endorsed to the Talisay police for investigation and detention.

Police investigations show that the victim, identified as Ernesto Sapinet, 56, succumbed to three gunshot wounds in his neck, stomach and breast, that caused his death. moremoremore
