Boy needs assistance

The father of a 1-year-old Marvin Atorne from Brgy. Magallon Cadre, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental, is appealing for help from DAILY STAR readers for his son who has been diagnosed to have anemia and cardiac problem, at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City .

Melanio Atorne, 40, a laborer, said his son needs blood transfusion and medicines and is still confined at the Pedia Isolation ward of CLMMRH.

He said they cannot afford the expenses for his hospitalization because he has to stop working to look after the patient, and his wife, Narcisa, 38, is jobless.

Marvin's elder brother, Mark Anthony, 3, died on Oct. 20 at CLMMRH, also of anemia, he said.

Medical records revealed that Marvin was brought to the hospital for difficulty in breathing. The day before his confinement, he suffered from high fever. In April, he was taken to the La Castellana hospital.

Any assistance for the patient may be coursed through the DAILY STAR office.*GCT
