The Department of Agriculture yesterday pledged its continuing support to the livestock and poultry industry of Negros Occidental, and set aside a P1.367-million fund for the implementation of a Piglet Restocking Program in 28 municipalities in the province.
Assistant Secretary Salvador Salacup, who represented Secretary Arthur Yap at the opening rites of the 1st Provincial Livestock and Poultry Fair at the Capitol, said the DA and its agencies will remain a major partner of Negros Occidental in ensuring the increased productivity and profitability of every Negrense animal farmer.
At a luncheon held at the Governor's Hall, Salacup and Bureau of Animal Industry Director Davinio Catbagan turned over the P1.367-million check to Gov. Isidro Zayco and Board Adolfo Mangao, with Agriculture Regional Director Larry Nacionales, National Federation of Hog Farmers Inc. president Albert Lim, and AGAP Rep. Nicanor Briones as witnesses.
