Summer football
starts in San Carlos
The San Carlos City Summer Football League opened Saturday at the SJRI football field with around 400 children participating in different age-group category, a press release from San Carlos City FC said.
The event was ushered by a motorcade around the city, followed by the opening ceremonies with Sangguniang Kabataan chairman Fay Dollosa delivering a message to the participants and Barangay 1 official Elias Larla declaring the tournament open.
Initiated by the San Carlos local government, the sports program is under the supervision of the San Carlos City football club and enjoys the support of the First District Congressional Office and the San Julio Realty Inc., the press release said. .

Allowing Villamonte to register the first two points of the tournament in the opening quarter, Tangub took control of the game in the second canto, with the fleet-footed Ricky Despi carrying the ball, to post a 29-22 halftime lead. But Villamonte managed to cut the lead to two points, 37-39, early in the third as Carl Ginete hit a trey and his follow-up in the ensuing play tied the game at 39-39. |
| Arroyo opens The 2009 National Private Schools Athletic Association Games open today in Naga City with President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo as special guest during the opening ceremonies, a press release posted on the government website said.
