COMELEC expects
1.7M Negros voters
BY CARLA GOMEZ
The number of voters in Negros Occidental for the 2010 elections could reach 1.7 to 1.8 million, Provincial Election Supervisor Jessie Suarez said yesterday.
In the 2004 elections, Negros Occidental had 1.57 million voters but this was pruned down after voters who failed to vote in two successive regular elections were deactivated, and the names of those who had double registrations or who had died were removed.
A consolidated report after a third Election Registration Board Hearing on July 20 that was completed yesterday showed that Negros Occidental’s new list already had 1,407,542 registered voters, Suarez said.

BY ADRIAN NEMES III
The picture of ten naked girls, believed to be high school students from Bacolod City schools, is reportedly being circulated in the city through cellular phones.
A copy was given to Negros Occidental High School principal Mario Amaca by a source he refused to identify, who said some of the girls in the photo might be their students.
He said he told their Guidance Office coordinator to scan the pictures of their students in their files to see if some of them were on the controversial photo.
