Bar customer jailed
for ’assault’ on cop

BY ADRIAN NEMES III

A customer of a sing-along bar in Bacolod City was jailed at Police Station 1 after he allegedly assaulted a policeman at the establishment at about 1 a.m. yesterday, Senior Insp. Luisito Acebuche said.

Acebuche identified the apprehended customer as Arnold Andea, 38, of 14th-Lacson streets, Bacolod, who was endorsed to Police Station 1 by Police Officer 3 Dave Dollosa and PO1 Dick Albaladejo.

Police Officer 3 Rex Verba of the Bacolod City Police Office Scene of the Crime Operatives said he went to the bar at 14th-Lacson streets to meet a friend earlier yesterday.

Verba claimed Andea was butting in and was pissing him off while he was talking to the bar’s manager. Andea suddenly hit him on his face with a wallet when he tried to confront him, he added.

Andea refused to comment further but said he already apologized to Verba.

Meanwhile, Acebuche said they also temporarily detained Andea’s companion, Noel Quilantang, 55, of Victorias City, Negros Occidental, when they recovered a 9-mm shooter pistol and magazine loaded with 10 pieces of live ammunition from him.

Acebuche said that although he has a firearm license and a mission order from the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Quilantang was not able to present a permit to carry the gun.*APN
