| Man injured, 12 cocks killed
One was injured and 12 fighting cocks were killed in Paglaum Village , Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City , at about 3 p.m. Tuesday in a skirmish caused by the closure of a pathway, police reports said.
Adrian Anlap, 50, of Purok Paglaum, sustained a lone gunshot wound on his right thigh, allegedly inflicted by his neighbor Joel Ordas, 67.
Investigator on case, Police Officer 3 Rolito Flores, said the skirmish was triggered by a verbal tussle when Ordas closed the pathway near his residence.
Flores said Anlap and his companions, Allan and Darwin Cardones, allegedly attacked Ordas who ran to his house, got a gun and shot Anlap. The Cardoneses, on the other hand, reported that Ordas threatened them with a gun and fired a shot hitting Anlap, he added.
After the skirmish, he said Ordas discovered that 12 of his fighting cocks valued at P60,000 had been killed.
Ordas surrendered to Police Station 7 and endorsed an armscor 9mm pistol with magazine, loaded with 10 live ammunitions while empty shells of the same caliber and a 6-inch long fan knife were recovered by the police from the crime scene.
Investigation and Detective Management Section/Crime Against Persons Desk head Senior Police Officer 4 Carmelo Nermal said Ordas has filed malicious mischief charges against the Cardoneses.
Nermal also said the Cardoneses will present their witnesses today so they can also file charges against Ordas.*APN

Cops nab 2 suspected pickpockets
Station 1 policemen arrested two suspected pickpockets at about 4 p.m. Tuesday when they tried to steal the wallet of a jeepney passenger in Bacolod City .
Arrested were Paqueto Navaja, 39, of S.P. Village , Brgy. Pahanocoy, and Ricky del Prado, 30, of Purok Sunshine, Brgy. 36 in Bacolod City .
Complainant Magdalina Ybañez, of legal age and resident of Brgy. Camingawan, Kabankalan City , Negros Occidental, told the police that she was on board a passenger jeep with the suspects from Burgos Market and was on her way to the downtown area.
When they reached Lacson-Burgos streets, Ybañez said Navaja took her wallet while Del Prado stopped her, allowing Navaja to escape.
Police Officer 3 Joshua Barile and PO1 Johney Dela Peña of Station 1 with the members of Task Force Negros 605 th Intelligence Operatives, who were tailing the jeep, responded immediately and arrested the suspects.
Barile said the two are also involved in “laglag-barya” operations, where they intentionally drop coins to distract jeepney passengers while their companions maneuver to rob them.
Investigations showed that Navaja was also arrested last month on the strength of an arrest warrant for theft but was able to post bail. The police are inviting other pickpocket victims to come to their station and identify the suspects so charges can be filed against them, Barile said.
Meanwhile, Police Station 2 men led by PO2 Benjamin Jamora endorsed a 16-year-old of Brgy. 3, who is allegedly involved in series of car robberies in the area.
The teenager, whose name is being withheld by the DAILY STAR, was apprehended in Brgy. 3, Bacolod . He is now in the custody of Station 2.
He denied the accusations against him but the police will refer him to the Social Development Center at the Bacolod City Police Office.*APN

Slain policeman gets award
A police intelligence officer who was stabbed dead by a suspected carnapper in Kabankalan City , Negros Occidental, has been recommended for a posthumous award by Senior Supt. Manuel Felix.
Calixto Mabugat, Kabankalan police chief, had recommended to Felix that SPO1 Hernani Diwatin be recognized for his exemplary services rendered to Negrenses.
Diwatin, an intelligence officer of the Kabankalan City police station, died Sunday, after he was stabbed by an unidentified suspect at Crossing Hilamonan in Kabankalan City .
He had served as a member of the Philippine National Police for 14 years, when he died.
Police investigations show that he and his colleague, identified as SPOI William Sablaon, were conducting a random checkpoint 2 a.m. Sunday when they spotted two motorcycles without plate numbers and two persons behind the vehicles who were acting suspiciously.
Diwatin, 41, who cornered one of them, was stabbed in the various parts of his body.
Police investigators of Kabankalan also found out that the Honda XRM motorcycle left behind by the assailant of Diwatin, was a stolen vehicle.
The Kabankalan police yesterday released the facial sketch of the suspect, who sports a military-type haircut.
Mabugat said they will welcome any information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect.
