wins in 40-Up cagefest

YBAC/Huminova Tigers beat Panaad Striders/Mang Inasal, 83-77, as DPWH-Talisay defeated Sum-ag Athletic Club, 104-90, to secure their second consecutive victories in the ongoing West Negros University/SFI 40-Up Category Basketball Tournament at the WNU Gym in Bacolod City .

Behind by four points in the first two quarters of play, the Rollie Buenaflor-mentored Tigers later grabbed the upperhand with 40-32.

Coach Boboy Jose Striders fought back in the final quarter, but the Tigers led by Sasuman, Paul Herrera and Santiago Rapiz were unstoppable in the last minutes of play.

Sasuman had 27 points, 20 of them in the fourth quarter, while Herrera and Rapiz contributed 18 and 12, respectively.

In their first game assignment, Buenaflor's wards beat BAPRO, 104-64.

In the other game, DPWH-Talisay managed by Sonny Boy Oropel and coached by Gary Yanson turned down Sum-ag AC for a 2-0 win-loss-card.

The DPWH was led by Cesar Ordas and Henry Agbas with a similar 16 points.

On Saturday, BAPRO will play against Sum-ag Ac at 3 p.m., while DPWH-Talisay takes on Panaad Striders in the second game.*HLG
