Nephew kills septuagenarian
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

A septuagenarian was clubbed to death Tuesday allegedly by his own nephew, who also robbed him of money in Brgy. Japitan, Escalante City , Negros Occidental, police said yesterday.

Chief Insp. Santiago Rapiz, Escalante police chief, said the victim identified as Felipe Javier,74, was hit in the head with a steel pipe bar allegedly by his nephew, Mario Javier, 42.

Rapiz added that the victim died at the Vicente Gustilo Memorial Hospital in Escalante City, two hours after the robbery-slay took place.

Responding police investigators recovered a 141-centimeter steel pipe from the scene of incident. An undetermined amount of money owned by the victim was also missing.

Before the incident, heated arguments had ensued between the suspect and the victim, who had earlier availed of cash loans.

Rapiz said the incident was triggered by old grudges.

The victim is still at large.*GPB
