E-PLDT Ventus, the latest business process outsourcing company to penetrate the Dumaguete City market, has expressed satisfaction over the local talent pool that it had hired over a month ago at the start of its operations.
E-PLDT Ventus on Thursday moved to its new site after it inaugurated its call center in the outskirts barangay of Bagacay, where at least 400 call agents work on two shifts.
Helen Marquez, president and chief executive officer of E-PLDT Ventus, said they are happy with the local talent pool in their eighth call center in the country, describing them as hard-working and professional.
The call center agents are at present working on extended daytime operations with minimal graveyard shift assignments.
At present, the BPO is catering to a wireless telecommunications company for its pre-paid services but eventually the company will expand its domestic market and bring in international accounts, Marquez added.
E-PLDT Ventus, she said, is a Filipino company with currently 30,000 employees nationwide, including its sister company, SPI, which also operates a BPO in Bacong, Negros Oriental, about 15 minutes ride south of Dumaguete.
Both BPOs belong to the parent company, SPI Global Solutions, headed by Maulik Parekh, formerly of TeleTech, the first firm to set up a call center in Dumaguete.
Marquez also reaffirmed reports that despite the current global economic downtrend, the BPO industry in the Philippines continues to grow.
In fact, she noted that the Philippines was cited as being one of the best places in the world for customer care services.*JFP
