BY RENE GENOVE

Regional director Antonio Labios of the DOE said with the continued pressures of climate change and current critical power supply situation in the Visayas, the conference aims to instill the values of energy conservation and efficiency among the stakeholders in Negros Oriental.

The DOE will present energy saving tips to participants with the use of compact fluorescent lamps, which consume far less electricity than the traditional incandescent bulbs, thus, reduces greenhouse gas emissions in the environment.

Participants will be representatives from various national agencies, local government units, power producers and distribution utilities, academe, affiliated renewable energy centers, with Dumaguete City Mayor Agustin Perdices and Gov. Emilio Macias II, among others.

Other activities lined up for the celebration are seminars on electricity safety and efficiency measures, and consumer empowerment on LPG and its products.*RG
