| The Dr. Pablo O. Torre Memorial Hospital in Bacolod City has recently acquired a state-of-the-art 1.5 Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging machine to further improve the quality of healthcare it provides to all, hospital president and chairman of the board Dr. Hector Torre yesterday said during the blessing of the MRI machine.
The first of its kind in Western Visayas, radiologist Dr. Rosario Pilar Gallaga Esteban said the Siemens Magnetom Essenza 1.5T MRI is the hospital’s “newest baby” that will assist Bacolod physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
She added that MRI is also valuable in staging of cancer and assessment of a myriad of other diseases.
Assuring patients that MRI systems do not necessarily mean high cost of hospitalization, DPOTMH Medical Affairs head Dr. Andrea Torre said usual discounts on senior citizens and patients screened by the social welfare services office will be accommodated.
The newly-acquired MRI machine by the hospital, the Siemens Magnetom Essenza, is powered by Total Imaging Matrix (TIM) that will ensure faster examinations.
The TIM technology helps reduce examination times by up to 50 percent with its ultra-lightweight coils providing for more comfortable exams.
The flexible coil combination enables a full view of the patient without need for repositioning either patient or coil.
With the use of the MRI machine, DPOTMH officials said examinations will be faster, more comfortable, and will provide clearer, higher quality of images for more accurate diagnosis.*NAB
