Labor files petition for
P50 wage hike

BY CARLA GOMEZ

A petition for a P50 per day wage increase in Western Visayas was filed before the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board in Iloilo City yesterday.

The petition was filed by Wennie Sancho and Hernani Braza, labor representatives on the RTWPB in behalf of the petitioner – the Trade Union of Filipino Workers represented  by its national president  Randy Ronquillo.

They filed the petition because of the increase in the prices basic goods and services, Sancho said.

The petition will be discussed at a Human Rights Day Forum at the Negros Press Club in Bacolod City 9:30 a.m. tomorrow, Sancho added.

Roberto Montelibano, president of the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said in his personal opinion the petition for the wage hike is not timely.

“The inflation rate is very low and the business community is just recovering from a bad year,” Montelibano said.*CPG
