‘Boxing dads’
suing each other

BY CARLA GOMEZ

Two councilors who figured in a boxing bout during a Sanggunian session in Talisay City Monday morning are suing each other.

Talisay Councilors Remus Gulmatico and Jose Marie Astorga yesterday said they are both filing suits.

Gulmatico said he was proposing a resolution for a Memorandum of Agreement between Talisay City and the Institute of Asia when Astorga took off his watch, approached him and boxed him on the right side of his head.

He said he defended himself from Astorga’s aggression but they were pacified by their companions.

Gulmatico said he is filing charges against Astorga for the assault on him.

Astorga, on the other hand, claimed it was not he who boxed Gulmatico. “Gulmatico boxed me on the forehead while I was on my way to the comfort room,” he said.

He said he was not able to box Gulmatico back because their companions intervened and the left side of his barong was even ripped.

He said he has a medical certificate to prove that he sustained an injury and will definitely file charges against Gulmatico.

Councilor Rafael Ignacio “Chino” Coscolluela who was presiding over the Talisay Sanggunian session said he could not say who boxed who first.

The matter will be referred to the Sanggunian Committee on Ethics for proper action, Coscolluela said.*CPG
