Bacolod Police City Mobile Group policemen under director Chief Insp. Alex Dimaculangan apprehended a man with an arrest warrant for frustrated murder at the Bacolod reclamation area at about 7:45 p.m. Friday, the police said yesterday.
Arrested was Madelo Gensoli, 31, of Purok 1, Brgy. Granada, who is now detained at Police Station 1.
Police records showed that Gensoli is subject of an arrest warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 48 Judge Gorgonio Ybañez in January 2007.
Meanwhile, Police Officer 3 Joel Manojo and Police Officers 1 Errol Corral and Reinee Gubuan, with City Police Investigation and Detective Management Section member Police Officer 2 Emman Anacleto, arrested a man with an arrest warrant for grave coercion at Sum-ag public market yesterday morning.
Police identified the arrested suspect as Doroteo Ferrer of Purok Riverside, Brgy. Tabunan, Bago City, Negros Occidental.
The arrest warrant for Ferrer was issued by Bago City Municipal Trial Court in Cities Judge Herminigildo Octavio who recommended P12,000 as bail.*APN

policemen get medals
Eleven policemen and women of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office were awarded the Medalya ng Papuri by the Police Regional Office for refusing a bribe from an arrested couple and for the arrest of three suspected drug peddlers in 2008.
The medal recipients were Chief Inspector Rico Santotome, Senior Police Officers 1 Dante Victor Escorpion and Mario de la Torre, Police Officer 2 Mae Arlene Escarda and Police Officer 1 Emry Caduhada.
Couple Ashley and Jabbar Ramos allegedly tried to bribe Santotome and four other law enforcers with P2,500, during an entrapment operation at a fastfood chain store in Bacolod City, in exchange for their release.
Anti-drug operatives Police Officer 3 Ana Liza Dela Cruz, Police Officers 2 Lynneth Lamayo, Listini Lin Villasana and Edilfredo Tortogo, and Police Officers 1 Abelardo Calderon and Gary Genelaso also received a similar medal for their anti-drug campaign in Negros Occidental.
Santotome, De la Cruz, Lamayo, Villasana, Tortogo, Calderon and Genelasco arrested Sammy Binas of Silay City, Lester Tuvilla of Pontevedra, and Mark Paller of La Castellana, who were allegedly engaged in the illegal drug trade.
Meanwhile, two brothers allegedly engaged in the illegal drug trade were arrested by the police Friday in Brgy. Rizal, Sagay City.
Nabbed were Ronaldo and Wenceslao Guardiana.
Senior Inspector Gabriel Gutierrez, Sagay police chief, said Ronaldo was arrested in front of the city gym, for possessing two sachets of suspected shabu and P500 in marked money.
A follow-up drug raid at the house of Wenceslao in Brgy. Rizal, in Sagay, also resulted in the confiscation of 17 sachets of suspected shabu and its assorted paraphernalia.
Gutierrez said they also impounded the tricycle allegedly used by the Guardiana brothers in their illegal drugs activities, a cellphone, and P3, 600 in cash.*GPB
