PCOS info drive mulled
BY ROMY AMARADO

Despite the absence of a demo machine that will demonstrate how  automated  voting is done, the Commission on Elections in Negros Oriental will conduct an educational campaign on automated election using slide shows.

Provincial election supervisor Eddie Aba said only one demo machine has arrived so far, for Regions 6 and 7 to be used for educating voters on the automated election.  He added that his office has provided election officers in the province with power points to be used in their information drive regarding the new method of voting.

Aba also said some election officers in the province have undergone training in Manila on the automated election, and are expected to echo their learnings to their counterparts and other Comelec personnel in Negros Oriental.

He said the information campaign on automated election to the voters will go full-swing in the province next month.

Meanwhile, Aba said the new round of registration of voters, as mandated by Comelec Resolution 8719, and in compliance with the order of the Supreme Court, is being held Monday until today, and will resume on Dec. 28 and 29.

Aba said reports from the fields reaching his office indicated that there were still people who registered, but not in large number.

“I hope that those who are qualified to register will register now and not on the 29 th , which is the last day of the extended registration,” Aba said.*RA
