| The Domingo Lacson National High School Class 1971 honored its outstanding members, AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Victor Ibrado and B/Gen. Federico Ercilla Jr., Deputy, the Inspector General, Armed Forces of the Philippines , in a ceremony held at the Bacolod Pavillon Hotel Resort, Bacolod City , recently, a press release from DLNHS said.
The Testimonial Dinner and Christmas Party of DLNHS Class '71 led by class president, Dwight Carbon, was attended by about 120 members and some guests. Present were former high school teachers Rolando Villamor, Ninfa Espinosa, Salvacion Gonzales, Lily Rendon, Erlinda Segovia, Angelina Bagares and Minviluz Matula.
Ibrado was the class valedictorian of the fourth batch of DLNHS graduates. He expressed gratefulness for the training and exposure he got in high school, the press release said.
Ibrado and Ercilla received Plaques of Recognition for their dedication, integrity and honesty as military officers, as outstanding alumni and as true and loyal friends and classmates, the press release added.*

City gov't gives
gifts to 8,646 Bacoleños
The Bacolod City government, through Mayor Evelio Leonardia and other city officials, started yesterday the series of gift-giving activities to at least 8,646 Bacoleños.
Leonardia, with Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson and the city councilors, distributed Christmas gifts yesterday to 2,246 elderly Bacoleños, at the BAYS Center , a City Hall press release said.
The city will also give gifts to 1,400 Bacoleños composed of vendors, tricycle and pedicab drivers and the disabled today, and to 5,000 indigent individuals tomorrow.
Leonardia said the city has allotted more than P1 million for its annual gift-giving activity dubbed Pamaskua 2009. He said the gift-giving, now on its sixth year, has become an annual tradition of the city government for the less-privileged sectors of the community, the press release said.
The recipients of this year's gift-giving were identified by the Department of Social Services and Development, in coordination with the Sectoral Concerns Office and the Office of the Senior Citizens Association, the press release added.*

School holds raffle
The G. Lopez Jaena Elementary School in Bacolod City held its raffle draw Sunday.
Major prize winners were Jocelyn Salvaleon, first prize (P5,000); Rachel Cawit, second (P3,000), and Cindy Alquezar, third (P2,000).
Ten won consolation prizes. They are Eduardo Sepe, Intyrax Industrial, Marietta De la Cruz, Jocelyn Lumangyaw, Christyn Lynn, Bentinganan, Eleanor Castro, Julie Peñas, Othaniel Sanchez, Rone Sedenio and Shalom Rebalde.*HLG

Outreach activities held
The Canlaon Medical Society of Negros Occidental conducted various activities in line with the “Heal the Nation” program of the Philippine Medical Association, Sunday, a CMS press release said.
A gift-giving consisting of rice, groceries, slippers and used clothes was held for some 85 victims of the Brgy. 19 fire in the presence of Brgy. Captain Jocelyn Uychiat.
Doctors also served lunch to 60 inmates and street children at the Bacolod City Social Welfare and Development Center under Basilisa Paula, in the “Child Advocacy” program of PMA, the press release said.
The doctors then went to the Holy Infant Nursery Foundation in Brgy. Sum-ag, where Dr. Hester Villanueva conducted consultations for orphaned and abandoned children, and served them merienda.
Other physicians who participated in the activities were Erlinda de los Reyes, Ma. Cristina Eusebio, Salome Estoya, Nida de la Peña, Charibel Escandelor, Cecilia Salvador, Felix and Rose Valenzuela, Cleofas and Carmelita Tibon, and Walter Villanueva, the press release added.*
