course conducted

Tourism staff member of Silay City Leo de Erit Canson, a former outstanding employee, completed his Group Training Course in Participatory Community Development for Practitioners through the JICA-NGO Partnership at the Asia Volunteers Center in Osaka , Japan , recently, a Silay press release said.

Canson represented Silay City and the Republic of the Philippines in that training organized by the Japan International Cooperation Agency under the International Cooperation Program of the Government of Japan from November 5 up to December 18, 2009.

JICA president Sadako Ogata said that Canson brought with him a documentary film on Silay City as one of the 25 major tourist destinations in the Philippines , as identified by the Department of Tourism and as Tourism-Friendly LGU Awardee 2009 in Western Visayas , the press release said.

Canson's Gifu Prefecture tour was assisted by Mari Kurata (Silay coordinator), director Yorihisa Goto and assistant director Nori Suzumura of IKAW-AKO Foundation, the press release added.*
