injured in robbery-shooting

Unidentified robbers shot a barangay captain of Bacolod City and his driver at about 5:30 a.m. Saturday in Pototan town, Iloilo, the police said yesterday.
Injured were Bacolod Brgy. 35 Captain Marianito Yelo, 53, and Joselito Tiñoso, Pototan police chief, Insp. Romar Perigil, said.
Perigil said Yelo and Tiñoso, who were in Iloilo on a business trip, were having coffee in a store at the new market of Brgy. Malusgod when the incident happened   |
Unite, Negrense
senatoriables urge

Two senatorial aspirants from Negros Occidental are calling on all Negrenses to unite and work to have representatives from the province in the national halls of legislation.
Former Rep. Jose Apolinario “Jun” Lozada (Neg. Occ., 5th District), yesterday said Negrenses must unite amidst political differences and work to have a senator to help in the development for the province.
Lawyer Alex Lacson, former Tuloy Pinoy founder and chairman, said that for almost 50 years, Negros had no senator, so he hopes everyone will unite to support a senatorial candidate from the province.

58 passengers hospitalized

Fifty-eight passengers were hurt when a Ceres Liner bus they were riding in figured in a vehicular accident along the national highway of Brgy. Zone 15 in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, Saturday.
Majority of the passengers who were brought to hospitals in Bacolod City, were declared as out-patients as they only had minor injuries, SPO1 Rodrigo Asparo, Talisay City PNP traffic investigator, said.
They were released after treatment, except for four who sustained fractured legs and injuries in the head, Asparo said.
