SP moves to amend
city’s revenue code

The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod passed on first reading Wednesday an ordinance amending certain sections of City Ordinance 474, Series of 2008, or the Revised Revenue Code of Bacolod City.

The amendments proposed by Councilor Dindo Ramos include the imposition and time of payment for business taxes, tax on transfer of real property ownership, tax on quarry resources, annual fixed tax on delivery service motor vehicles, and tax on transport business.

They also include amendments on Mayor’s Permit fee on occupation or calling, special permit fees for the operation of cockpits, fire inspection fee, and garbage service charges.

The City of Bacolod will receive the 2006 Best Peace and Order Council and 2008 Community Service Awards at rites to be held at the Rizal Hall of Malacañang Palace in Manila on Feb. 12, 2009.

Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia, Interior and Local Government director Victorio Pagapulan and Bacolod City Police director Senior Supt. Ronilo Quebrar will attend the awarding ceremonies for the 2006 Best Peace and Order Council and 2008 Community Service Award on the invitation of Ronaldo Puno, chairperson of the National Peace and Order Council, a press release from the city said.

 “We will have a merger of the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats and the Kabalikat ng Malayang Pilipino in the Western Visayas before the end of this month,” Rep. Ignacio Arroyo Jr. (Neg. Occ., 5th District) said yesterday.

Arroyo, who is KAMPI regional chairman, said the merger in Western Visayas is part of region-by-region moves to ensure a national merger before the 2010 elections.

President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo late last month called for a swift Lakas-Kampi merger.
