The City of Bacolod will receive the 2006 Best Peace and Order Council and 2008 Community Service Awards at rites to be held at the Rizal Hall of Malacañang Palace in Manila on Feb. 12, 2009.

Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia, Interior and Local Government director Victorio Pagapulan and Bacolod City Police director Senior Supt. Ronilo Quebrar will attend the awarding ceremonies for the 2006 Best Peace and Order Council and 2008 Community Service Award on the invitation of Ronaldo Puno, chairperson of the National Peace and Order Council, a press release from the city said.

President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo will be the guest of honor at the awarding rites that will be held together with the Galing Pook Awards, scheduled at 9 a.m., followed by the conferment of the awards by the President.

The Bacolod Peace and Order Council has been a consistent awardee in the last five years and has always been ranked among the “Top 5” in the country, the release added.*
