OPV ’08 income up 58%

Revenues of the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian of Negros Occidental grew by 58 percent in 2008 to P3.945 million, from only P2.3 million in the previous year, PVO figures show.

Provincial Veterinarian Renante Decena said in a Jan. 6 report to Gov. Isidro Zayco that the collection increase can be attributed to the implementation of the Revised Provincial Tax Ordinance and strict enforcement of the quarantine regulation in both sea and airports.

Decena said the P3.945 million was derived from issuances of veterinary inspection and laboratory fees, and income from milk sales.

Gov. Felipe Hilan Nava said P18-million has already been appropriated for the construction of road support for the nautical highway.

Sibunag wharf is also connected to Iloilo City through Jordan town..
