Guimaras RORO port to
be finished this year

Guimaras is expected to complete this year the construction of its roll on-roll off wharf in Sibunag town that will link the province to Negros Occidental through Pulupandan in the south.

Gov. Felipe Hilan Nava said P18-million has already been appropriated for the construction of road support for the nautical highway.

Sibunag wharf is also connected to Iloilo City through Jordan town.

Earlier, the construction of the P2-million Eco Port, including a terminal building, as part of the infrastructure program for the Metro Iloilo-Guimaras Economic Development Council has also been proposed in the province.

Nava said that aside from its port project, Guimaras will also pursue more road and other infrastructure projects this year to complement the promotion of the province as an eco-tourism destination.

Also, two hospitals will be constructed, including the Buenavista Hospital and the four-storey provincial hospital in Jordan.

Nava said the P30 million loan for the provincial hospital has already been approved and the construction of the initial two-storey would start soon.

The hospital will have new facilities and all private rooms to be developed for economic enterprise. It will have an official capacity of 75 beds but Nava said they aim to make it a 100-bed hospital.*NLG
