From a ragtag performance to a respectable finish.

This is what the almost 200 athletes of the Negros State College of Agriculture showed in the regional State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association held at the Iloilo Sports Complex Jan. 3-7.

A tailender in previous SCUAA meets, NSCA brought home two titles – in baseball and men’s taekwondo – as well as first runner-up finish in dance sports, second runner-up in men’s swimming and third runner-up in women’s basketball and women’s lawn tennis.

IN PBA
SLR beats Rain or Shine

Defending champions Sta. Lucia Realtors stamped their class last night against Rain or Shine as they registered a lopsided 101-84 victory in the opener of their KFC-PBA Philippine Cup quarterfinal series at the Araneta Coliseum.

Leading SLR’s surge were Nelbert Omolon, who exploded with a game-high and personal conference-high 30 points,  and Joseph Yeo, who scored 12 of his 26 points in the third quarter, including a 3-for-3 stint from the behind the arc.

With their fourth straight win dating back to eliminations, the Realtors registered their longest win streak in the conference and in almost a year and need just one more victory to clinch their spot in the semifinals.
