DTI eyeing NERBAC offices
for other Region 6 provinces

The Department of Trade and Industry 6 has proposed the creation of a National Economic Research and Business Assistance Center window or satellite office in every province in Western Visayas.

Regional Director Dominic Abad said the NERBAC, which has a regional center in Iloilo City, is a fully operational one-stop, one-single window.

Abad said he hopes that within the year, the DTI could convince the other agencies in other provinces to adopt the same initiative.

Roxas City has already expressed interest to establish a NERBAC office, he said.

NERBAC serves as “a single entry point for investors, and a one-stop-shop express business center.” It has three components – licensing, investment promotions and knowledge management.

Abad said the NERBAC provides information on inquiries from investors, adding that the center makes its easy for investors process government requirements.

NERBAC gathers mandatory agencies under one roof such as the DTI, Securities and Exchange Commission, and Cooperative Development Authority for business name registration.

Other agencies are the Bureau of Internal Revenue, Social Security System, Pag-IBIG Corp., and the Philippine Health Insurance.

The aim is to make everybody work together toward making the local government units more competitive, Abad said.*NLG
