Make Felix
permanent, Zayco asks

BY CARLA GOMEZ

Gov. Isidro Zayco yesterday said he has requested that the assignment of Senior Supt. Manuel Felix as acting Negros Occidental police director be made permanent.

Zayco said he sent his request to the Philippine National Police hierarchy in Camp Crame because Felix has performed well in Negros Occidental.

Chief Supt. Isagani Cuevas said Zayco’s show of confidence in Felix is a challenge for him to do even better.

Felix said he was very happy with the governor’s move and will continue to do his best for Negros Occidental.

Felix said he has ordered the activation of the provincial anti illegal drugs task group that was not operating when he arrived in Negros.

“We are now identifying our target personalities and requesting deputization from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency so we can work together in the fight against drugs,” he said.

Common target areas of drug pushers are the bigger cities and towns where close watches will be undertaken, he said.

“While the drug problem in Negros Occidental is not really alarming, it will be alarming if we don’t do something about it,” Felix said.*CPG
