Truckers, Waves
dispute crown tonight

Pueblo Rosario Athletic Club eyes history tonight by staking its claim to the title against Bethany Gelle Trucking in the Basketball Unified Sports Group-organized 1st Danilo Puzon Cup at Lopue’s South Square.

Game time is set at 8 p.m.

The PRAC Waves nipped Axial Engineering, 60-58, while the Bethany Truckers overran Alvin Auto Parts, 72-65, in the crossover semifinal paving the way for the one-game final showdown.

Bethany’s big three, Bandoy Aliermo, Johnson Ciocon and Elbert Habaradas, who combined for 42 points last week, will match skills against PRAC’s Amit Teruel, Reggie Sy and Spitfire Espina who rely on speed and three-point shooting.

Teruel will be a marked man after he hit three successive three pointers when the Waves upset the Engineers, who missed the services of center Edgar Espares, forwards Rene and Winnie Antones and guard Mailo Jurisprudencia.

Truckers’ playing coach Nene Lapore is expected to neutralize whatever PRAC guest mentor Troy Sarabia comes up with as bench strategy will determine who gets the Cup.

With both splitting its previous two outings, the Waves have the luxury of using its 15-man lineup while the Truckers may come shorthanded come winning time.*
