An employee of Wilford Sy, owner of a sugarcane transloading station in Brgy. Ma-ao, Bago City, yesterday clarified that the victim of a robbery-hold-up Friday identified in police reports is not connected with her employer.
Alma Estoquia, secretary of Sy, said Marilou Villacorza who engaged in the business of encashment of checks, is not an employee of Sy.
She, however, said Villacorza was robbed by hold-up suspects inside the transloading station owned by Sy in Brgy. Ma-ao, Bago City.
Villacorza initially reported to the Ma-ao Community Police Unit in the barangay, that she was robbed of P3,000 in cash and checks by six unidentified armed men.
Five hours later, it was reported to the Ma-ao CPU that the suspects took P380,000 in cash, and checks amounting to P600,000.
Supt. Melchor Coronel, Bago police chief, said he was surprised that the amount of the checks stolen had risen to P2.4 million, when he saw the news on television.
Initial police investigations showed that the suspects were armed with a .45 caliber pistol and .38 caliber revolvers, a locally-made shotgun known as “sulpak”, and bladed weapons.
Coronel said he was surprised at the charges in the amounts being declared as having been taken by the six robbers.*GPB
