Ex-RPA man killed
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

A former member of the Revolutionary Proletarian Army-Alex Boncayao Brigade was shot dead allegedly by his ex-comrades, who reportedly tagged him as a “traitor” to their organization, in Sagay City, Negros Occidental, Wednesday, police said.

Senior Inspector Gabriel Gutierrez, officer-in-charge of the Sagay City Police Station, yesterday identified the victim who succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds, as Edwin Perocho, 23.

Police investigations show that Perocho, who used to be a member of the RPA-ABB, hitched a ride on a truck loaded with sugarcane, and driven by a certain Ronnie Colanog, who was on his way to Sagay Sugar Central in Brgy. Bato, Sagay City.

Gutierrez said the cargo truck was flagged down by a suspect believed to be 16 to 18 years old, who was wearing a black jacket and maong hat in Purok Busay, Brgy. Campo Himoga-an, Sagay City.

Police investigations also showed that Colanog was told by the suspect, who was reportedly backed by a group of armed men, to go ahead, and left behind Perocho as they had something to settle with him.

Citing revelations of a witness, Gutierrez said the suspect disarmed Perocho who reportedly shot a dog in Brgy. Makiling, Sagay City, and took his .38 caliber revolver, before he was shot.

Three empty shells of a US caliber 30 rifle were recovered by Sagay police investigators at the crime scene.

Investigations also showed that Perocho reportedly acted as “informant” for security guards, and was under surveillance by his former comrades.*GPB
