ARB coops in Talisay
receive fertilizer aid

Twenty agrarian reform cooperatives in Talisay City received another batch of organic fertilizer assistance recently from the office of 3rd District Rep. Jose Carlos Lacson, at the turn-over rites held at Brgy. Concepcion covered court, the Provincial Agrarian Reform Office said.

Lacson told the farmer-beneficiaries that the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program is not yet finished, and the Joint Resolution without the Compulsory Acquisition will still be signed by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

He said that the Department of Agrarian Reform still continues to exercise its function and the Congress will address the agency’s focus after the extension with reforms is passed.

Land acquisition is not an assurance of good life, but making it productive it will give dignity to the lives of the ARBs, the solon said.

He reiterated that he is not against CARP extension, but he prefers an extension with reforms, adding that the extension should be in accordance with what the majority wants.

The solon said that he agreed to extend the program without the compulsory acquisition, and was also among those who approved the P100 billion budget for support services.

Lacson said that Department of Agrarian Reform field personnel would now focus on support services. “Getting land is a success but getting good life is a failure without any support,” he added.*
