Environment lawyer to
give talk in Bacolod

Discussions on marine life destruction, protection, and preservation will be hosted by environmentalist lawyer Antonio Oposa Jr., in Bacolod City at 2:30 p.m. today, a press release from the Negros Sea Rescue and Ecological Foundation Inc., said.

Oposa, president of the Visayan Seas Squadron, is known for his activism in the drive to protect marine life, especially in the Visayas, the press release said.

A graduate of the University of the Philippines and Harvard University Law School, Oposa had joined government agencies like the National Bureau of Investigation, the Philippine Navy, and Bantay Dagat, in raids against illegal fishing fleets that use blasting equipment, the press release also said.

He also wrote the book, “The Laws of Nature and Other Stories”, the press release added.*
