A wedding in Illinois

BUDDAI

Virginia Tagiwalo, or Tita Banene, excitedly shared with me the details of the wedding of her favorite grandson recently.

Fr. Paul Decena officiated at the marriage ceremony of Lyra Marie, daughter of Raul and Meliza Torres, and Steven Anthony Serra, son of the late Eduardo Serra Sr. and Leni Tagiwalo-Serra, at the St. Thomas of Villanova, in Palentine, Illinois.

Matron of honor was Irelina Lumbrera Sumagaysay, bridesmaids – Kristine Go, Analine Policarpio and Judy Sy, bestman was Eduardo Serra Jr. groomsmen were Chris Babb, Craig Storie and Brad Wahlen, with Cole Gabriel Reveche – ring barer, and Chase Evan Piamchantar – coin bearer.

The bride’s parents exuded warmth and care, which is probably why, Tita Banene said, her grandson Steven fell in love with Lyra. Tita Banene also said, “Their family is the type you and I and everybody would hope our own children will become related to in marriage.”

Sister Manang Len played the generous host in providing food, accommodation and transportation to family and guests, while Manang Inday played the benevolent general with an exceptional game plan.

Banene was in her elements in an elegant Jusi gown designed by her own personal Bacolod designer.

Even the weather cooperated with sunny skies and a cool temperature for a week. Len’s friend came out to show their love and support by providing food, vehicles and condominium for out-of-town visitors.

At the wedding reception guests viewed a video with Steven and Lyra’s life before they met. Family and friends danced up to the wee hour of the morning.

To the newlyweds, God bless, and may you enjoy your married life and have a dozen children.

A week after, again a birthday bash was held for their dear Mom Banene Tagiwalo who celebrated her birthday before going back to the Philippines. More guests came and more food shared …good health to you dear Tita Banene….

Remember: True love dares to confront and correct. Go to the Bible for your protection, correction, and direction.*
