Rep. Jocelyn Limkaichong (Neg.Or., 1st District) said yesterday she is hopeful that President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will clarify her stand on the no-election issue in her State of the Nation Address on Monday.
Limkaichong said the no-election issue has brought a lot of doubts and speculations from different sectors who seek to extend the term of the President.
She believes that there will be an election in 2010, with the coming out of several national figures who wish to be elected as the next chief executive of the country.
Limkaichong said she is in favor of amending the Constitution, but only through a constitutional convention after the 2010 elections.
In her SONA, the president will deliver, perhaps, her accomplishments and the implementation of the different programs of her office, Limkaichong said.
Meanwhile, Jimalalud Mayor Reynaldo Tuanda also said he hopes that Arroyo will clarify her plans for 2010, aside from reporting her accomplishments in government programs.
He said the poverty alleviation programs of Arroyo, such as skills training and livelihood development, have helped the farmers in Jimalalud.*MA
