invention contest set

The Department of Science and Technology-Technology Application Institute will hold its 2009 Visayas Island Invention Festival-Contest October 2 to 4. 

The Visayas Cluster Invention Contest features categories on Outstanding Invention (Tuklas Award), Outstanding Utility Model, Outstanding  Industrial Design, Outstanding Creative Research (Likha Award) and the Outstanding Student Creative Research (Sibol Award). 

First prize winners will get P15,000 and the second and third prize winners will get P10,000 and P5,000, respectively.

The contest is open to Filipino inventors, makers, designers and creative researchers residing in the Visayas Area or in regions VI, VII and VIII. 

The Sibol Award is open to high school and college students.  Entries have to be endorsed, however, by their  school heads. 

Entries that have won the first to third prizes in previous national invention contests, except those under the Creative Research Category, are excluded from the competition.

Entry forms and rules and criteria for invention contest are now available at the Department of Science and Technology Regional Office, at No. VII, Gov. M. Cuenco Avenue, Banilad, Cebu City, or can be downloaded from http://www.dost.gov.ph.

Accomplished entries/requirements must be received not later than 5 p.m., September 15, at the DOST regional office.*RG
