| 3 teenagers nabbed
for robbing woman
Police Station 2 arrested three teenagers while their unidentified companion evaded arrest after they allegedly robbed a woman in Bacolod City at about 3 a.m. on Saturday.
Arjiev Nidar, 18, of Purok Riverside, Michael John Perez, 18, and Rexfield Razonada, 19, both from Purok Nami-Nami, all in Brgy. Banago were arrested in a follow-up operation in Purok Kagaykay, Brgy. 2, Bacolod.
Complainant Christine Dingcong, 39, of Regent Pearl Homes, Brgy. Alijis, Bacolod told the police that she was on board a trisikad at the corner of BS Aquino Drive and Aguinaldo Street when four unidentified suspects on a tricycle held her up at knife-point.
Dingcong said the suspects took her bag containing her credit and identification cards, ladies watch and P520 in cash and fled towards Purok Kagaykay.
With the help of bystanders, three of the suspects were apprehended and the victim’s bag was recovered.
Police Officer 1 Allan Contrevida, one of the policemen who responded to the incident told the DAILY STAR yesterday that the suspects were neophytes.
Contrevida said the suspects had a drinking spree earlier that day and only chanced on the victim. They are now detained at the lock-up cell of Police Station 2 and will face robbery charges, he added.*APN

Shooting
suspect surrenders
One of two suspects in the shooting to death of a 33-year-old resident of Barangay 1 in Pontevedra town, Negros Occidental, was arrested by the police shortly after the incident, Sunday morning, a Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office press release said.
Pontevedra PNP chief, Senior Insp. Argel Ancheta, identified the apprehended suspect as Clepp Superticioso, 30, of Sitio Sugod, Barangay Recreo in Pontevedra.
Superticioso, with Christopher Magante, shot Johnny Montalban with the use of a still unknown firearm in front of Kayla Cellphone Repair Shop in the town, that caused the victim’s death.
Responding policemen nabbed Superticioso, while Magante evaded arrest bringing with him the firearm used in the shooting, the press release said.
Montalban was declared dead on arrival at the Valladolid District Hospital. Old grudges reportedly triggered the shooting, the press release said.
In Cauayan, unidentified suspects shot Esmeraldo Kelemenia, 42, of Barangay Basak in the town, using an unknown firearm.
He was brought to Kabankalan City District Hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound on his left abdomen.
Julius Alvares, meanwhile, shot Rolando Rosales, 18, with a homemade shotgun at the seawall of the fuel depot in Purok Azucena, Barangay Banquerohan in Cadiz City, Saturday afternoon.
Alvares fled right after the shooting while the victim, who sustained a gunshot wound in his left leg, was rushed to the Silay City Provincial Hospital, the press release said.
Meanwhile, a suspect in the fatal shooting of a 48-year-old resident of Barangay Bato in Sagay City surrendered to the police yesterday.
Senior Insp. Gabriel Guttierrez, OIC chief of Sagay City PNP, said that Edgar Militar, of Purok Bagong Lipunan of the barangay, claimed to have acted only in self-defense when the victim, Rodrigo Delgado, tried to assault his 13-year-old son with an improvised spear.
After Delgado's attack parried by the suspect, the victim went home and took another bladed weapon and attacked the elder Martir, the press release said.
The suspect shot the victim using a .45 caliber pistol killing Delgado.
Martir surrendered to Gutierrez with the firearm used in the killing. Cases for homicide and violation of Republic Act 8294 are prepared by the local police against the suspect, the press release added.*
