27,000 jobs await
WV work seekers

About 27,000 jobs await applicants in the mega job fair of the Department of Labor and Employment Friday to Sunday at the Amigo Plaza Mall in Iloilo City as part of this year’s 111th Philippine Independence Day celebration, a DOLE press release said.

About 14 government agencies and some 47 local companies and overseas recruitment agencies will take part in the three-day event.

DOLE Region 6 director, Aida Estabillo said the first day of the job fair will feature government agencies offering 1,462 vacancies – 175 unfilled plantilla positions and 1,287 for emergency short-term employment under the Comprehensive Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program.

Aklan farmers get DA help

The Department of Agriculture in Region 6 served a total of 321 Aklan farmers during a recent caravan of government services led by the Office of the Ombudsman in the Visayas, a DA press release said.

The DA said it provided technical consultation on rice, corn, high value commercial crops and livestock to the farmers, particularly on intervention programs.

DA intervention programs include those in fertilizer, irrigation, education and extension, loans and agricultural credits, dryers and post-harvest facilities and seeds or stocks.

Cebu Pacific
starts new route service

Cebu Pacific, the Philippines’ largest domestic airline, starts its thrice weekly Manila-Cauayan (Isabela) service today, a press release from the airline said.

Using its brand new ATR 72-500 aircraft, the new service will fly every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

The flight departs Manila at 9:50 a.m. and lands in Cauayan at 10:50 a.m., while the return flight leaves Cauayan at 11:10 and arrives in Manila at noon.
