Yulo: Run against
Iggy speculative

BY GILBERT BAYORAN

Vice Governor Emilio Yulo III yesterday dismissed as mere “speculations” stories being circulated that he is running against Rep. Ignacio Arroyo Jr. in the 5th district of Negros Occidental, or that he may team up with Rep. Jose Carlos Lacson who may run for governor of Negros Occidental in the 2010 elections.

Yulo said so many changes and arrangements may take place in the next several months, adding that his political plans may be known on Nov. 30.

He also clarified that he has not discussed his political plans with Lacson, Sagay City Mayor Alfredo Marañon Jr., who is being floated also to run for governor, or some politicians in the 5th district.

Yulo and Arroyo are members of Kampi.

Although the political season has already started, Yulo said stories being circulated about his political plans are merely speculations and conjectures.

San Carlos City Mayor Eugenio Jose Lacson and Manapla Mayor Manuel Escalante III have expressed interest in running for vice-governor of Negros Occidental, if they get the endorsement of the United Negros Alliance, a local political party founded in Negros by business tycoon Eduardo Cojuangco.

Yulo said that while he can go back to running for board member of the fifth district, he is willing to run for vice governor, if the opportunity arises. He assumed the vice governorship last year when Zayco, who was elected to the post in 2007, became governor after the death of Gov. Joseph Marañon in 2008.*GPB
