69ners grab upper
hand in NSL tourney

69Ners Bowlers led in the ongoing NSL Organization Fun Bowl Bowling Tournament at the Super Lanes of Goldenfields Commercial Complex in Bacolod City.

The group headed by Binoy Gepana accumulated 2,967 pinfalls overtaking DEP-ED Province rollers piloted by 1st MVG Singles Tournament winner Marianito Superiano, who went down to third position with 2,896 balls.

The Glori Reynaldo-led NOHS Class ’89 was second overall with 2,955, followed Firefly of Vilma Robles with 2,938.

The other squads with their respective scores: RJ Pinsmashers/NPBC, 2,886; EMB Lending, 2,841; Moonlight Inn, 2,838; Team Justice, 2,814; Lacsonians, 2,784; Chicken Alley, 2,781; Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp., 2,726; Carribean Resort, 2,583; JASS/DEP-Ed, 2,582; Circle Inn. 2,451, and Brgy. Cabug, 1,338.

Cabug is still catching up with one game played.

Tournament coordinator Elorde Magbanua said only eight teams will be selected to play in an up-the-ladder system after 15 rounds of pintoppling action.

Meanwhile, the Negros Occidental High School Inter-Class Alumni Bowling Tournament, dubbed the “President Mariano Tuvilla Cup”, will resume tomorrow at 3 p.m.

Class ’82 anchored by Cesar Sumaylo still leads with 9,032 pinfalls.

The top 10 teams after six rounds of action are  Class ’72 with 8,793; Class ’66, 8,773; Class ’73 Globelines, 8,710; Class ’67, 8,655; Class ’85, 8,557; Class ’89, 8,553; Class ’71, 8,508, and Class ‘59/56/54 Combined with 8,506.

The individual record holders are Grace Zollinger (Class ’73) in highest pinning with 93; Class ’80 bet Arnold in the men’s division with 91; Ver Villar (Class ’66) in singles men, 161; Ann Dayot (Class ’82) in the women’s singles, 133; Cesar Sumaylo (Class ’82) and Ronella Cordero (Class ’89) in triple with 383 and 328 apiece.

Team’s highest single and triple records went to Class ’89 and Class ’66 with 595 and 1,701 pinfalls each.*HLG
